Please read these terms and conditions as they relate to your use of the Complete Meats website and the placing of orders by you. You should only continue to access the website and/or place orders if you accept these terms and conditions.
Our business, Complete Meats, is a partnership established by Shaun and Cindy Vining in 1988. We pride ourselves on being a private family-run butcher with an ethical approach to supporting West country farmers. Complete Meats also provides direct employment to approximately 30 staff in its head office, cutting plant and retail shops. We supply meat both directly to the public and also on a wholesale basis to restaurants, hotels, schools and businesses. Please feel free to drop in to our head office or one of our shops in Axminster, Chard or Honiton. Although our cutting plant is open early outside these hours, our normal office hours are 9am to 4pm. An answer phone is available outside hours.

All the produce listed on the Complete Meats website is subject to availability. Not all of the products listed will be available all the time. Some cuts are seasonal, some require further hanging time to ensure optimum quality, and some are just such hot sellers that we may have temporarily sold out. If we cannot fulfil an order, in part or in full, we will contact you to update you and possibly suggest a replacement.
To order online, simply select and add items to the basket with your required quantity; when you have finished shopping and your basket is "full" click on the "Order now" button. You will then be taken through the contact details and payment screen on a secure server. Before submitting your order we ask you to read and agree to these terms and conditions and confirm your acceptance of them. You will receive by email an acknowledgement of receipt of your order with a unique order number which should be quoted in all communication with us. Back at Head Office we will then ensure that we can fulfil your order and either dispatch the meats to you or contact you to confirm our acceptance of your order pending dispatch. The simple automatic acknowledgement of your order does not constitute a contract between you and us. A binding contract of sale of goods between you and us comes into effect upon confirmation of the order by us or at the latest at the time of dispatch of the meat.

If applicable you will be advised whether or not an appropriate substitute product is available; you have the right to reject any substitute. Acceptance or rejection of substitute products does not occur until we discuss the options by telephone or communicate and agree by email.
Orders will only be accepted if there has been no material error as to description or price. We reserve the right to refuse to process any order in our absolute discretion.
All products are listed in kilograms. We have provided weights in pounds also, but for information only. All weights are approximate.
Most of our produce is sold by weight. The average pack sizes and prices quoted on the website are intended as a guide only and marginal variations may apply. Where you have ordered a specific weight, we will supply at least that weight of produce – you may even get a little extra thrown in depending on the cut! Very occasionally for certain produce lines the final cost of your order will not be known until after we have cut your meat and prepared your order to your specification. If that is the case we will confirm the total cost by invoice. If you have provided debit or credit card details we will debit your card with the exact cost after your meats have been prepared and weighed and will send you the card receipt.
All prices are quoted in " pounds sterling and include VAT at the appropriate rate (0% or 17.5%). However, nearly all our produce is zero rated for VAT. Prices quoted on the website are subject to change and are indicative only. If we have mistakenly under priced a product we will not be liable to supply that product at the stated price: we will contact you to notify you of our mistake and amend your order for your confirmation.
We make every effort to provide true and accurate images of our products, but please note that these images are for illustration purposes only and do not necessarily represent the actual products ordered by you.
Payment can be made by credit or debit card (excluding American Express) online via Protx. We use industry standard secure encryption technology to protect your payment details.
Alternatively you can phone us with your card details or pay for your order by posting a cheque to the address above together with a print out of your order form. If you pay by cheque we reserve the right to wait for the cheque to clear before dispatching.
Where full payment is not received in clear funds prior to dispatch, and is late, Complete Meats reserve the right to charge late payment interest under the late payment legislation. You agree to indemnify us against all loss, cost and expense incurred by us or our agent in obtaining payment from you in the event that we are unable to recover in full the price of any product ordered by you.
Complete Meats currently dispatches orders weekly on Wednesday afternoons for all orders received and fully paid by 10 a.m. on that Wednesday. We are unable to guarantee delivery times, but we aim to deliver on Thursdays each week. Please include any special delivery instructions on the order form.
We use a national next day courier company to deliver your meat to the address specified by you in the order form. Usually, they will require a signature. If a signature is obtained we will be entitled to assume that that person is authorised by you to receive the products. Our meat is fresh and packaged in a polystyrene box, vacuum packed and surrounded with ice packs so it is fresh on arrival. Upon delivery of the products we suggest that you immediately arrange to store the products in a freezer, fridge or other storage facility suitable for the product.
At the time of delivery you or someone on your behalf must ensure that you are available to receive the products. Due to the perishable nature of the products and our commitment to supply products of the highest quality, where nobody is available to accept delivery on either of two visits by the courier and no appropriate "leave safe" instructions have been left for the courier, the products will be returned to us by the courier. In such cases we reserve the right to charge additional delivery fees. Where the product is delivered (or attempted to be delivered) in accordance with this procedure and your prior instructions, we will not be held liable for produce that has perished and cannot make any refund.
By prior arrangement products can also be collected from one of our three retail shops - Honiton, Chard and Axminster.
Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery made in accordance with our procedure and your prior instructions.
Upon delivery you must inspect the goods within a reasonable time and notify us immediately if you have any problems; you will be deemed to have accepted the goods within 24 hours following delivery, and we will treat the products as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for their purpose.
We deliver within mainland UK. There is a fixed delivery charge of £4.95. For orders outside mainland UK please contact us to discuss your order and delivery costs and timings.
Complete Meats are confident that we can meet your high standards and expectations. However, if you are not completely satisfied or have a complaint, we will be happy to discuss this with you.
As all the products we supply are perishable we regret that we are unable to offer you the usual statutory right to cancel your order up to 7 working days following delivery of the goods (a right you would have in respect of many other types of goods available for purchase online). Where products supplied are damaged, incorrect or faulty and you have notified us within 24 hours of delivery of the order, we will either replace the product or issue a full refund to you. We may request that goods be returned for inspection prior to agreeing any refund at your cost. You must return the goods to Complete Meats or make them freely available to our courier, but at your cost. If you do not freely return the goods at your cost then we reserve the right to deduct any reasonable costs we incur in recovering the goods from you and will deduct this from your refund. If goods are confirmed to be faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied we will refund any delivery costs in returning the goods.
Where a refund is made this will be paid as soon as possible, but no later than 30 days from notification.
To discuss any return of meat you must follow our returns procedure by contacting our customer services team on 01297 33282 to obtain a returns authorisation.
